  • A unique, magical and enchanting place

Aoiz is a village of the pre-pyrenee Navarra region, a very distinguished environment. Only 28 kilometers away from Pamplona and in the middle of the Lumbier and Aoiz basin. It is the perfect starting point to discover the marvellous natural areas crossed by the Irati river and shaded by the beautiful mount Izaga. The urban area is witness to its historic past, reflecting a rich cultural patrimony.

A special mention goes to the main cathedral, built in the 15th century over a romanic church, conserving the original tower. It is the most remarkable monument of Aoiz. The interior calls particular attention to the original baptismal font with the town’s coat of arms carved in stone (15th century), and most of all, the magnificent altarpiece created by Juan de aAnchieta in 1580, which has been incorporated with a baroque structure created in 17th century by Juan Tornes. Always inside the same cathedral , a statue of the virgin Mary with child and an image of the crucifixion, both by Anchieta.

Very close to the village you can find remarkable places, like the Castillo de Javier, birthplace of the saint, and the monasterio de Leyre, Roncesvalles, Artaiz…

  • Where you can enjoy many activities

The surrounding area of the town of Aoiz offers the possibility to go hiking, horseback riding, cycling, mountain climbing with different difficulty levels or to loose yourself in the magnificent forests of the selva del Irati and the gorges of the foz de Lumbier and of Arbayun.

The crystal waters of the river Irati and Urrobi, make this area the perfect place to go fishing.

On the 7th of july, in Pamplona, we celebrate the most universal of all festivals, the festival of San FermÍn, 9 intense days of crazy "fiesta" taking place  only 20 minutes away from Aoiz.

The nearby ski areas complete the offer… all year round. Enjoy nature.
